Lake Tahoe: We Meet Again

Another year, another trip.

Each year my family goes to South Lake Tahoe for a recreation hockey tournament that my dad and brother participate in. The girls in the family, my mom, sister and me, hang out while the boys keep busy with team bonding time.

Lake Tahoe is on the boarder of California and Nevada, so the main attraction is gambling. There are other activities at the hotel, but most center around gambling and drinking. Activities I don’t particularly enjoy.

My family and I always go to South Lake Tahoe. I have never been to North Lake Tahoe. When I told my co-worker that I was going to the south part of the lake his response was “I’m sorry”.

Yes, there seems not to be too much to do around here, but I am determined to find the hidden treasures of the area. I am going to experience different things than I normally do when I am in the town. I want to do different things and have a different experience.

Excited to see a new face to a familiar town.

Paris Bridge’s Love Locks Are Taken Down

You probably have heard it before: among cities around the world couples etch their initials into locks and place it on a bridge, while throwing the key into a watery grave. This is suppose to represent that the love birds will be forever in love.

Yuck. Who cares. I like to think of myself as semi-romantic, but not cheesy romantic.

I first heard about this love lock tradition while I was in Prague, but soon discovered that many cities have the same tradition, including Paris.

It seems that Paris is sharing my anti cheesy romantic vibe. The city has decided to remove love locks from one of it’s bridges. You can read more here.

Where do you stand on the issue? I believe that the preservation of culture and history is so important! In this case, the locks need to be removed to help preserve the bridge and thus I agree with removing the locks.

Tell me in the comments what you think!
